What Wingmate can see, and what it sends to OpenAI
Updated
Wingmate is built so the details of your wedding stay with you. Here’s exactly what it can and can’t see.
What Wingmate sees
- Your question and the conversation so far in this tab.
- A summary of your plan: your wedding date and city, budget totals by category and payments due, guest and RSVP counts, meal choice tallies, and your to-do progress.
What it never sees
- Names (yours or your guests’), email addresses, street addresses, phone numbers.
- Vendor names, notes, guest messages, or the wording of to-dos you wrote yourself.
Your cards, only if you allow it
In Invite Studio, Wingmate can’t see a card until you let it. When a question needs one (the card you have open, or another card in your suite, say “match the place card”), it asks right where you type: Allow once for that question, Always allow until you turn it off, or Don’t allow. An allowed card shares its text and layout, which can include names and wedding details. Press Stop at the top of the chat, or change any card in Settings, at any time.
Where it goes
Wingmate is powered by OpenAI. What’s listed above is sent to OpenAI to write each answer, and we ask OpenAI not to store conversations. VowBirds doesn’t save your Wingmate conversations either: they live in your browser tab and are gone when you close it or press New chat. See our privacy policy for more.
What Wingmate can change
- On the Budget page: drafts of budget changes.
- In Invite Studio, for the cards you allow: drafts of edits using the same controls you have (text, type, colours, position, size, background). Nothing a person couldn’t do by hand. Edits to the open card are one Undo step; edits to another allowed card are saved to that card, and Undo in the chat puts them back.
- Wording, palettes and layout: it can rewrite lines (keeping your names, date and places exactly), switch to one of Studio’s palettes when you ask for a new theme, and restack or regroup elements. Long drafts show the first three lines; Show more lists the rest, and everything ticked is applied.
- Dates: a Date element (Text panel › Wedding date) keeps its words tied to a date. Change the date or the format in Properties, or ask Wingmate, and the words follow on every card that has one. Typing in the words turns it back into plain text.
- Artwork, only if you allow the Graphics library: when you ask for flowers, frames or “something more elegant”, Wingmate asks to use the library (the same art your Graphics panel offers) before it can add or swap pieces. It sees the names of the items, never anything you uploaded, and photos still go in through Uploads.
- Everywhere else: it only answers questions.
Every draft is a checklist you approve, and VowBirds checks each item again before it’s applied. Wingmate has no way to touch our website, its code or settings, or anyone else’s account, however a request is worded.
