VowBirds helps couples plan a wedding: a website, guest list, budget, invitations and registry. This page explains what we keep, why, and who helps us run the service. We don’t sell personal information and we don’t run advertising trackers. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use VowBirds, with its advertising features turned off.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, used to sign you in and to contact you about your account. If you set a password, only a secure hash of it is stored, never the password itself. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us; we use the email address to find your account.
- What you add: your wedding details, website text and photos, budget, to-dos, invitation designs and the photos in them, registry items, and print requests including a shipping address.
- Your guests: the names, email addresses and mailing addresses you add, their RSVPs, meal choices and notes, and the names and messages guests leave on your registry.
- People who review a proof: the name and note they leave.
- Technical data: IP addresses, used briefly to stop abuse (for example, limiting password guesses and form submissions). These records are deleted within days.
- Usage data: Google Analytics records which pages of vowbirds.com and the planning app are visited, roughly from where (country and city), on what kind of device, and whether someone signs up. It never runs on couples’ wedding websites or proof links, and its advertising features are off.
- Feedback: when you answer “Did this answer your question?” in the Help Center or rate a Wingmate answer, we store the answer, which article it was about, and any note you type. It isn’t linked to your account, and we don’t keep your IP address with it.
- Security: if something sent to VowBirds looks like an attack (for example code typed into a form, or an attempt to make Wingmate break its rules), we refuse it and record the account (or a scrambled form of the address, never the address itself), where it was sent and the first 160 characters, so we can protect everyone’s data.
How we use it
Only to run VowBirds: to show your website to your guests, record replies, send the invitations and reminders you ask us to send, notify you about proofs and print requests, and keep the service secure. We send your guests email only when you press send.
Who can see it
- Your website is visible to anyone with its address (or its password, if you set one). Guests can see only their own household’s RSVP.
- A proof link shows that design to anyone who has the link, until it expires after 30 days or you withdraw it.
- Guests see registry totals, never who gave what. Only you see names and notes.
Services we use
- Supabase stores the database and files.
- Vercel hosts the app.
- Resend delivers sign-in, invitation and notification emails.
- Cloudflare runs our domain and the bot check on sign-in and contact forms.
- Google provides Google Analytics and, if you choose it, Sign in with Google.
- OpenAI powers Wingmate, the planning assistant, when you use it. It receives your question and a summary of your plan (your date, city, budget totals by category, guest and RSVP counts, and to-do progress), never names, email addresses, street addresses, notes or messages. In Invite Studio, only if you press Allow, it also receives the text and layout of the card you have open, which can include names and wedding details. We ask OpenAI not to store conversations.
They process data only to provide their service to us.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your information while your account is active. Deleting your wedding website removes its guests, replies, photos, registry and to-dos. To delete your whole account, including your designs, email privacy@vowbirds.com from your sign-in address and we’ll do it within 30 days. Guests can ask the couple, or us, to remove their details.
Children
VowBirds is for adults planning a wedding. It isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes and questions
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email before it takes effect. Questions: privacy@vowbirds.com.
